How plan access works with a group seat
A seat from a school or team license grants a plan tier. Your highest active tier applies, whether it comes from the seat or your own subscription.

A group license gives its members seats, and each seat carries a plan tier. If you hold a seat, that tier applies to your account for as long as the license is active and the seat is assigned to you.
Highest tier wins
Your access is the highest active tier you hold, counting your personal subscription and every group seat assigned to you. It is applied automatically, and the Group licenses section on your billing page states this in its subtitle.
A Premium seat therefore covers a personal Standard subscription. A Standard seat sits under a personal Premium plan and changes nothing while that plan is active.
Reading your billing page
The plan card names the tier and where it comes from. A seat shows the source line Provided by the group name, along with a note such as:
Your Premium access comes from the Physics 201 group license.
When you also pay for a plan of your own, the card says so and tells you the personal plan is superseded by the group license while the seat applies. You can keep the personal plan as a backup or cancel it from the same page. If you have no personal subscription, a chip reads No personal subscription.
The Renews metric on a seat reads Group term ends with the license end date, since renewal is the group owner's decision.
The group licenses section
Each row shows what the seat is and its state, with chips for Currently applied, Suspended, or Payment overdue, and a line stating whether you own the group or hold a seat in it, plus the expiry date. Buttons on the row cover Decline seat, Pay invoice for an owner with an outstanding invoice, and Manage.
With no seats and no groups of your own, the section reads No group licenses and offers View groups.
Giving up a seat
Decline seat opens a confirmation:
You'll give up your seat in Physics 201. You stay a member of the group, and an admin can reassign the seat to you later.
The dialog also tells you what it does to your access. If your own plan already matches or beats the seat, it says the decline will not change your current plan. Otherwise it names the tier you will drop to and confirms that your circuits and components are never deleted, though anything above the lower limits cannot grow until you regain access. If the decline does not go through you will see Could not decline the license.
When a license lapses or is suspended
Seats stop granting access while a license is suspended or expired, and the plan falls back to whatever you hold personally. Group members who cannot buy a plan themselves see a dialog headed Your group's license has expired:
The group this seat belongs to no longer has an active license. Ask the group owner to renew or upgrade the license to keep using these features.
That dialog has a single Okay button. Contact the group owner, who can renew or extend the license from their own billing page.
Two smaller effects
Group license charges show in your Invoices & receipts table with the type Group, next to your personal subscription rows. And the discount offered during cancellation is held back when a group seat already covers you at the same tier or higher.
