Announcements, discussion, and the activity log

How to tell a group something, where the conversation happens, and what the owner can see.

Announcements
Announcements sit at the top of the group's Overview tab. Owners and admins post them with New announcement, which asks for a Title and an optional Body, and offers a Pin to top switch.
The group page shows the pinned announcement, or the most recent one if nothing is pinned. See all opens the full list. Announcements can be edited, pinned, unpinned, and deleted from the menu on the card.
Announcement bodies are plain text. Markdown, links written as markdown, and formatting characters appear exactly as you typed them, so write the address out in full rather than hiding it behind link syntax.
Posting an announcement sends every other member a notification in the app, under the bell in the header. No email is sent, so for anything time critical, send one yourself as well.
Discussion
Every group has a Discussion tab with at least one sub-forum called General. Members post threads and reply. Owners and admins can add more sub-forums with New sub-forum, each with a name of 2 to 80 characters and an optional description.
Deleting a sub-forum asks you to type its name to confirm. The General sub-forum cannot be deleted. The discussion is visible only to members and seat holders, so people browsing an open group from outside will not see it.
About this group
Also on Overview, the About this group card is a longer introduction that owners and admins write and edit. It takes markdown and images and holds up to 20,000 characters. It is a good place for the syllabus, house rules, or links to the resources your members need.
Activity
Owners and admins get an Activity tab: a searchable log of what has happened in the group. Filter by date, by member name, or by category, including shares, visibility changes, invitations, members, announcements, and settings. Members do not see this tab.
