Create a group

The free flow is one screen: a name, an optional description, and a visibility setting.

Open Groups in the left navigation, then New group. You will see three cards. Choose Group for the free kind. The two license cards lead to a purchase form instead, covered in Buy a license and assign seats.
The form
Group name is required and can be up to 80 characters. Three characters is the minimum, and the counter under the field tells you where you are.
Description is optional, up to 1,000 characters, and appears on the group page and in the directory.
Visibility has three settings:
  • Public. Anyone can find and join.
  • Unlisted. Anyone with the link can see the group, but it is not listed in the public directory.
  • Private. Only members can see the group's content.
Choose Create group and CircuitSim takes you straight to the new group.
Things the form does not ask for
There is no field for a web address. CircuitSim builds one from the group name for you. There is no logo upload either. You can change the name, description, and visibility later in Settings, and you can add a longer introduction on the group's Overview tab under About this group.
New groups are invite only until you change it. If you want anyone who can see the group to join with one click, open Settings and set Joining to Open.
What comes with a new group
Every group starts with a discussion area holding one sub-forum called General, an empty Circuits tab, an empty Components tab, and an Overview tab where you can post announcements and write an introduction. You are the owner.
