A forgotten password takes three screens: one to ask for the email, one to enter the code, and one to set the new password. Start from Forgot password? on the log in page, or open circuitsim.com/auth/reset-password.
Step 1, ask for the email
The page is headed Forgot your password?:
Please enter the email address associated with your account and we will email you a link to reset your password.
Enter your address, clear the security check if one appears, and press Reset password. The button reads Sending email... while it works.
The message arrives with the subject Reset your CircuitSim password. Check your spam folder if it does not show up within a few minutes.
Step 2, enter the code
Clicking the link in the email opens a page headed Enter confirmation code:
A confirmation code has been sent to {email}. Please enter the code below to reset your password.
The code from the link is filled in and submitted for you. Typing the code from the email by hand works the same way.
The code is expired or has already been used. means you are working from an older reset email or one you have already followed. Request a fresh one from step 1.
Step 3, set the new password
The last page is headed Update password with the line Please enter your new password. Fill in New password and Confirm new password, both of which have eye icons to reveal what you typed, then press Update password.
A Password updated successfully. toast confirms it and CircuitSim takes you to your circuits, already signed in.
Validation messages here are Password is required!, Password must be at least 8 characters!, Confirm new password is required!, and Passwords do not match! The eight-character message is the standard to follow. Shorter passwords are sometimes accepted by this form, so hold yourself to eight characters or more rather than relying on the check.
Use the same browser throughout
The reset link has to be opened in the same browser that requested it. Requesting the reset on a laptop and opening the email on a phone breaks the chain, and so does opening the update page directly from a bookmark.
When that happens, the last step fails with:
Password update timed out waiting for an authenticated session. Please open the reset link again or try signing in.
Go back to the email and open the link in the browser you started from. If the link has since expired, request a new reset and follow it through in one browser from start to finish.
